Asad Loya, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgery fellow and clinician-scientist. He earned his medical degree with highest honors from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at Baylor’s Cullen Eye Institute in Houston. Dr. Loya is currently completing a two-year Adult and Pediatric Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the world-renowned Associated Retinal Consultants / Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, training under George A. Williams, MD, Antonio Capone Jr., MD, Tarek S. Hassan, MD, and the program’s distinguished retina faculty, caring for adult and pediatric patients. His clinical and research interests span medical and surgical retina, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy, macular holes, and pediatric retinal disease such as retinopathy of prematurity, with an emphasis on large-database and real-world outcomes research. He has authored more than 85 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts and presented widely at national and international meetings, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
